pH 5.5¿¡ µµ´ÞµÇÁö ¾Ê¾Ò´Ù.
2. XylitolÀº 8½Ã°£ µ¿¾È¿¡µµ ¿ì½Ä¿øÀÎ±Õ S. mutans KCTC 3065ÀÇ ¼ºÀåÀ» ÀúÇØÇÏ¿´´Ù.
3. Sorbitol ¹× xylitol¿¡ ÀÇÇÑ ±¸³»¿°±Õ Candida albicans KCTC 7122ÀÇ ¼ºÀå ¾ïÁ¦ È¿°ú´Â
È®ÀεÇÁö ¾Ê¾Ò´Ù.

The purpose of this study was to investigate that the erect of sugar alcohol such as
sorbitol and xylitol on the growth of oral microorganism. The Gram positive facultative
cocci and cariogenic bacteria, Streprococcus mutans KCTC 3065, and candidiasis
(bleeding gum, dry mouth and tongue, thrush) inducing yeast, Candida albicans KCTC
7122, were used in this study.
The results were as follows :
1) Practically xylitol is not fermented by freprococcur muenr KCTC 3065 at all.
2) Enrichment of each xylitol or sorbitol did not any drop of pH of culture broth.
3) Thus xylitol may be contain bacteriostatic effect of cariogenic bacteria(S. mutans
KCTC 3065).
4) However, the sugar alcohol has little effect on the growth of Cardida albicans
KCTC 7122 than that of S. mutans KCTC 3065.
In conclusion, this may explain that xylitol is more useful non-cariogenetic sugar than
that of sorbitol.
